In the first nine months of 2004 over 9 million tourists visited Lesser Poland, indicating a 27% growth when compared with the same period of 2003. Moreover the share of foreign tourist in the number of accommodations grew from 27% to over 30% with the majority coming from Germany, United Kingdom, France, Italy and the United States.
 
Cracow’s hotel market is characterised by the concentration of hotels within the historic city centre, the area of the Planty Garden Ring. The majority of hotels, both highest standard and tourist class, are fairly small and many of them are owned by private persons and local companies.
